Professional Supervision of

Leaders in Education

Professional Supervision offers a place for leaders in education to reflect on the work they are undertaking with another, experienced leader and qualified supervisor.  Psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counsellors, physicians and lawyers all confer with supervisors especially on difficult cases and leaders in education, it seems to me, should not be an exception to this practice.

 

It would provide a formal process of professional support, which ensures continuing development and effectiveness of your leadership practice through interactive reflection, interpretative evaluation and sharing of expertise in an effort  to make you more effective in your role.  

 

Similar to supervision in other areas of work, supervision of leaders in education attends to three main functions: 1) Developmental 2) Supportive and 3) Qualitative.

The main categories of focus would be:

- To provide regular and protected space for you to reflect upon the content and process of your work

- To develop understanding and leadership skills within your work

- To receive information and another perspective concerning your work

- To receive process and content feedback

- To be validated and supported, both as a person and as a professional

- To ensure that you are not left unnecessarily to carry difficult issues alone

- To have space to explore personal distress, restimulation, unaware evocation and behaviour patterns that may be caused by the work

- To plan and utilise your own personal and professional resources better

- To be proactive rather than reactive

- To ensure quality of work

CONTACT ME NOW to arrange a free Discovery Session in order to design our professional supervision partnership, clarify expectations and establish your goals and objectives.  I can provide a programme of either face to face or virtual meetings as decided in our discovery session.  Programmes will run on a 6 session cycle with a review meeting to determine the next appropriate steps.  At the end of each session I will provide you with a summary of key points and learning made including a suggested post session challenge.  I will also ask you for your feedback in order to ensure that I am continuing to meet your needs.
